Jay joined Brighton Corporation in spring of 2005 as Project Manager, after spending nine years in the engineering private consultant field, which included transportation planning, traffic operations and geometric design.
With his previous experience and training, Jay manages the early phases of Brighton’s residential portfolio, and is the point person in all pre-development services prior to vertical construction. His expertise in acquisition and due diligence, entitlement and engineering, and project management of infrastructure construction has advanced many projects in staying on budget and finishing on time. He is responsible for tasks associated with bare ground, conceptual planning and infrastructure construction as well as releasing the home sites to builders and other endusers. Included, but not limited, are geotechnical and ground water testing; surface gravity and pressurized irrigation; utility coordination; and surface street and intersection from conceptual planning to design and then to construction. Because of his planning background, Jay has also been involved in architectural efforts, both landscape and monument/park development.
Jay has played a management role in past and current projects including Heritage Commons, Paramount, Victory Park, Harris Ranch, Bainbridge, Ten Mile, Federal Way, Little Falls Walgreens and the Barber Station & Marianne Williams Park projects. Uniquely because of his engineering background, Jay has pioneered cooperative development efforts with local City and County agencies to maximize resources and efforts. It has been proven with projects like the intersection projects on McMillan at Linder and Meridian Roads, private developer involvement on capital improvement projects can save up to 50% of the overall project costs while reducing construction duration by almost 50%. It is a win-win for both agency and developer as we meet demands of the growing communities.
Jay holds undergraduate degrees in electrical and civil & environmental engineering. His graduate degree is in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation planning and traffic engineering. While working towards a graduate degree Jay was able to obtain a minor in business administration.
